Anger and Time Management

By Exforsys | on June 21, 2009 |
Anger Management

Anger could easily be attributed as a reaction to things unexpected. When a person encounters or receives something that is not according to expectations, anger could commence immediately. Although the usual reaction for many individuals could be frustration and disappointment, constant frustration because of not achieving the expectations could lead to anger.

This type of emotion could also be expected when things do not unfold according to plan. When a person is unable to get things done on time, they can easily get frustrated and become angry. This is especially true in workplace environment wherein employees are constantly under pressure to perform.

The managers and employees could become susceptible to this form of emotion because they are unable to reach the specified output in time. Anger can even happen when something unscheduled could come up. For example, informing an employee on their final hour in their shift that they need to work overtime could easily cause strife and anger.

Time Management as the Key

Time management has a direct relation with anger. You can even say that a person who can schedule things and follow them without any problem will most likely be less angry and frustrated.

When you can properly manage your time, you will be able to get things done and do not have to deal with the unexpected or, worse, unable to reach the expectations. It goes without saying that anyone who cannot keep up with the expected schedule can only expect challenges since they have to compromise one thing after another.

Take a look at this example:

10:00 – Meeting
12:00 – Lunch
12:30 – Office Responsibilities

A very important meeting should never be missed and it could go on for more than two hours. When this happens, your lunch hour could be cut off which will create a domino effect – creating troubles along the way.

Family Trouble with Time Management

Time management is often attributed to office and workplace environment. But time management should be observed at home as well. The relationship of work and home will always be there even for those who do not have a family yet.

Personal time is very important and highly recommended to everyone. Even robots and machines will experience stress if they are not rested or calibrated from time to time. Humans should also rest and spend time with their family or else stress will increase resulting to decrease in productivity and anger. This can easily happen when you do not have any time management skills.

Aside from affecting your work, you are also destroying your relationship with your family. A bad output at work as well as family problems can happen if there is no time management.

Getting Things Done on Time

Implementing proper time management is very difficult especially if you are inclined to ignore time. But when you are willing to change, things could improve faster than you think it would be.

These are the step by step formula on how you can control your time to avoid further emotional problems:

• Know your limitations – Time management is all about knowing what you can and cannot do. Always know your limitations and point them out before committing to everything. For example, if you think a specific project will require at least 4 hours, tell your boss about it. Saying “yes” to a 2-hour deadline is very costly.

• Planning – Planning things in advance is almost a no-brainer to avoid trouble. But this is a very important step towards better time management. Everything will crumble without proper planning.

• Back-up plan – Aside from the time-bound schedule, always have a “Plan B” this will help you prevent any future trouble since you already have a replacement plan in case something bad has happened. This will even serve as a cushion to further trouble since you know that even though things will not work as planned originally, you already have a solution.

• Rest – Give yourself time to rest. Weekends or specific time of the day or night should be off-limits to work. This will give you time to recuperate and think more clearly when you are back at work.

Anger and time management will always be related. Never fall to this emotional trouble by getting things done on time with ease.
